Ryōshi shinryaku
Ryōshi shinryaku (Quantum invasion) - a small Atari Lynx game coded for LynxJam2024
Story
The advent of quantum computing marked a great step forward for human civilization, but with its spread, an alien species living on a different dimensional plane and using quantum entropy as a source of energy, was attracted to our planet.
Thus began periodic waves of invasion, which although they were not noticeable on the normal plane of reality, made quantum calculators unreliable.
The global economy risked collapse, returning to classic computers was now impossible, so scientists tried to counter the invasions using combat drones transferred with a quantum leap to the plane of existence of the aliens.
The pioneer of this battle was the Japanese national defense research center, which used this technology to deploy defense drones at its own Quantum Data Center in Tokyo.
Unfortunately, at the beginning the quantum leap technology was still imperfect, so while the aliens could move freely on the various dimensions of their plane of existence, the drones split into multiple copies on each dimension connected by quantum entanglement, therefore not independent in their movements and limited by the fact that the destruction of one of the copies extended to the others.
